BLOG POST #6 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & PLN

Our current social climate in North America is focused on social media, public services, politics, and conversations about policing, social justice, and addressing systemic racism within communities.

In a sense, technology is the greatest contribution of society in a sense that modern people cannot do without technology all the time.

How does social media help engage and challenge community-based communications?

For example, technology plays a huge role during COVID-19. When people are self-quarantine at home and unable to contact the outside face to face. The online classes and works on the computer have become their main way of life. Things like that must be talked face-to-face in daily life before can be communicate in time through the internet, even though the distances between them are far away.

On the other hand, our online class Ecdi 338 is also a perfect interpretation of the benefits of technology to us.

We not only use online teaching to learn and communicate, but also let me know more about the development and use of technology.

What need to reflect on to adapt evolving social media communication expectations as community learns more about identity?

However, the increasing development of network technology makes it difficult for people to communicate face to face. Nowadays, people can be seen on the bus, the subway, or on the road with using their mobile phones, who ignore many surrounding things.

For instance, people may be able to shop online instead of go to the shopping mall, and communicate online instead of talk face to face.

BLOG POST #5 PLN IN PRACTICE

How would you use PLN with the intent to expand audience?

First, in my opinion podcast is a way to improve the audience to understand my blog and my idea better, which means to emulate a success story we need to know the details from the beginning. We need to choose a topic that we know clearly which is closed to our daily life.

Additionally, explore some of the security concerns to consider when developing an audience on any social media platform…

By analyzing the podcasts I had listened and watched, I thought every podcast need to attract the audiences and need to seek some new ideas to improve their own podcast.

To be more specific, a good podcast need relevant pictures, voices and videos. Podcasts with simple words and without colour cannot get people’s attention.

In addition, as for me, the podcast with a thoughtful question, a relevant anecdote, an appropriate quotation or a challenging statement can improve audience’s interest.

What are the concerns for individuals who become influential in a social space?

Nowadays, social media exists some security risks when people sign in, log in or post their blog and podcast.

When the podcasts develop on the internet, we need to pay more attention to keep private information from revealing. People also need to protect their important information among the social media world.

BLOG POST #4 INCLUSION

We never stop learning but being open about how we learn, how we adapt, how we “should” be doing things needs to continually evolve.

  • HOW DIVERSE IS MY PLN?

Everyone’s PLN is different, which contains people’s habits, communication, styles…

    • a silo of information sharing

I am the person that can collect all point of views to enrich my mind and knowledge. I prefer wide-range of interests, because I believe that absorb the essence and discard the dregs is the best way to sought ideas.

Sharing different ideas and communicating as our own thoughts are interesting and useful. When I finished reading and watching the videos, I felt that I understand and get the information more deeply.

Sometimes, my PLN is depending on those readings and videos, and also the information can make me understand our theme better.

BLOG POST #3 PERSONAL DIGITAL IDENTITY VS. PROFESSIONAL DIGITAL IDENTITY

PLN SPACE THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS (DEVELOPING AWARENESS)

Nowadays, social media become more and more popular…

Many digital platforms are used by students, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter… They use those platforms for sparing time, learning, communicating…

What digital platforms are students currently using to develop and expand their professional network?

As for student, we can collect some information on the website to expand our professional learning network. Most of webpage can lead us find some knowledge or information in our modern society.

In my network, my digital identity means a big part of my life, however, I monitor it very carefully because I know there are risky thing when people use pubic wi-fi or upload their selfie.

Consider what a local employer would do if applied for a job with them – can they search the content, is it of benefit to the career path, does it hinder the opportunity of employment?

As for local employer, social media shares more benefits to them. They can find what they want on the website more clearly, comfortable and convenient. To be more specific, digital platforms make our life easier and advantageous.
